BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan football team rolled up 566 yards and scored on all six of its first half possessions en route to a 52-6 win over Aurora on Sept. 19 at IWU Stadium.
The Titans, who improved to 3-0 for the second straight year, scored first with 11:24 to play in the first quarter when Travis Brubaker capped a 54-yard drive with a 2-yard run and Michael Fenger kicked the first of his seven point after touchdown boots to give IWU a 7-0 lead.
Chris Messina scored less than two minutes later (9:49) on a 49-yard pass from Kraig Ladd and Joey Driver scored at 7:25 in the first on a 42-yard pass from Ladd.
Fenger made the score 24-0 with a 32-yard field goal with 14:46 to play in the second quarter and Driver caught his second TD pass, this one a 16-yarder from Brien Rooney to make it 31-0 with 10:10 before halftime.
Eli Williams caught a 7-yard scoring pass from Ladd to make the score 38-0 at halftime.
Williams scored on a 1-yard run with 10:39 to play in the third quarter and the final Titan score came when Rooney ran one in from 15 yards out with 12:43 to play in the game.
The lone Spartan (2-1) score came with 8:54 to play in the game when Willie White caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Noah Martin.
Illinois Wesleyan, who had 28 first downs, amassed 292 yards from the pass and 274 by rushing, while limiting Aurora to 114 yards (31 rushing, 83 passing). In the game Ladd was 14 of 20 for 244 yards and Rooney was seven of eight for 48 yards. Williams rushed for 141 yards on 15 carries and Cameron Allen gained 52 yards on 10 carries. Driver made five grabs for 96 yards and Jack Scalcucci had four catches for 76 yards.
Ryne Reder had nine carries for 37 yards.
Mike Ammirati, Nick Nikolich, Mike Whittington, Dan Rogers,and Mike Kotz each had four total tackles to lead IWU and Nikolich and Ryan Jenkins combined for a sack.
Wesleyan will have next Saturday off and return to action in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener at Carthage at 1 p.m. on Oct. 3.
