The Illinois Wesleyan women's tennis team improved to 2-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a 6-3 win at Augustana on Sept. 12.
The Titans are 2-4 overall after falling to Wartburg, 8-1, on the neutral court at Rock Island, Ill.
At No. 1 singles,
Helen Alex defeated Jenna Richardson, 7-6, 6-2, and at No. 3 singles
Liz Exo beat Emily Doemland, 7-5, 7-6. Alex and Exo teamed to win at No. 1 doubles against Richardson and Tricia Crawford, 8-4.
Cassie Devore was a winner at No. 2 singles over Crawford, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1, and teamed with
Cate Hunter for a win at No. 2 doubles over Tricia Sapio/Krista Panko, 8-6.
At No. 3 doubles,
Sarah Wilson and freshman
Alissa Goetz topped Emily Doemland/Brittany Reece, 8-6.
Against Wartburg, Goetz was the lone winner, claiming the No. 6 singles match against Leanna Jenkins, 6-2, 6-3.
