BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan pitchers allowed only five hits in the doubleheader, winning by scores of 7-0 and 2-0 against Wheaton on April 11.
The Titans improved to 4-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and 18-3 overall while the Thunder dropped to 10-16 overall and 0-6 in the league.
In game one, junior
Christy Engel struck out eight in four innings and
Lauren James and
Stephanie Humbert combined on the three-hit shutout.
Kris Lee had two runs batted in in game one to provide the offensive punch as the Titans took advantage of four Wheaton errors to score five unearned runs.
In the second game, senior
Val Hackett allowed only two hits and struck out seven in the complete game. Junior shortstop
Allison Ward had two hits and a run batted in and second baseman
Lisa Narotsky had the other RBI.
The Titans travel to Kenosha, Wis., for a 3 p.m. doubleheader against the Lady Reds on Tuesday, April 14.
