BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After a more than two-hour rain delay, the Illinois Wesleyan softball team got a three-hit shutout from Christy Engel to defeat DePauw, 3-0, at IWU Field on March 31.

Engel struck out eight and walked only one in picking up her sixth win of the year against only one defeat. The Titans improved to 12-1 and the Tigers fell to 13-7.

Illinois Wesleyan scored two unearned runs in the second when Sarah Carlson and Kris Lee singled, advanced on a fielder's choice and both scored on an error by the second baseman on a ball hit by Kayla Mahoney.

Mahoney led off the fifth with a double and pinch-runner Lisa Male scored on a sacrifice fly by Monica Urban.

The Tigers' Megan Soultz allowed only three hits and struck out three in six innings. Rachel Gill had two of DePauw's three hits.

The Titans will play Augustana in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, April 4.
