BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan improved to 26-0 with a 76-58 semifinal win over North Central on Friday, Feb. 27 and will host Carthage for its second straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament championship at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28.
The Titans placed four players in double digit scoring, led by senior
Mallory Heydorn with 13. Senior
Claire Sheehan and sophomore
Hope Schulte each added 12 and junior
Christina Solari scored 11 and snared a game-high nine rebounds.
IWU led by a 34-22 margin at halftime and scored 36 points in the paint in the game, holding a 38-30 edge on the boards. North Central (12-13) was guilty of 17 turnovers and managed to shoot 37 percent from the field (19 of 51).
Carthage (18-8) advanced to the title game with a 65-50 win over No. 2 seed Wheaton (16-10). Dani Ripkey scored 12 points to lead the Lady Reds. IWU has won both games over Carthage this seasonand has won 10 in a row against Carthage. IWU won 72-48 in Bloomington on Jan. 10 and claimed a 62-46 decision at Kenosha, Wis., on Feb. 7.
