Sammi (Whitcomb) Oyer joined the Illinois Wesleyan softball staff in 2013-14.
She pitched at the Division I level for Indiana State University. As a pitcher at Galesburg (Ill.) High School, Whitcomb held a number of records upon graduation, including lowest earned run average in a season and career and strikeouts in a season and career.
Whitcomb earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Illinois State University and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University. She is currently employed as an auto underwriter at Bloomington's State Farm Insurance.
