BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's wrestling team opens its second season of competition, Saturday, Nov. 1, as the Titans venture to Stevens Point, Wis. for the Pointer Open hosted by University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. First rounds of action are set for 9 a.m. at Skyward Fieldhouse.
Head Coach Adam Richards continues to build the program in his second season at the helm. He is joined by second-year assistants,
Michael Triplett,
Brian Roberts, and
Steven Robbins.
The Green and White roster grows to 22 wrestlers, including 19 newcomers. Sophomores Vanessa Gray (Burlington, Ontario, Canada.- Dr. Frank J. Hayden),
Faith Comas (Cicero, Ill.- Sterling J Morton East) and 2025 all-conference performer,
Sifa Feruzi (Denver, Colo.- Macomb) return for Illinois Wesleyan.
The Titans will send 18 competitors to Wisconsin. Led by 2025 national qualifier and regionally ranked sophomore Alivia Davey (Ripon, Wis.-Berlin), who is set to wrestle in the 207-pound weight class, freshmen
Angel Hill (San Diego, Calif.- Mira Mesa) and
Morgan Congo (Morris, Ill.- Morris Community) will also compete at the weight class. Freshman
Gracie Martinez (Fort Worth, Texas.- Fossil Ridge) joins Feruzi in the 180-pound weight class. Freshmen
Tyzoria Payne (Cypress, Texas.- Cypress Springs),
Hayley McNeal (Onaway, Idaho.- Potlatch), and
AJ Grant (Chicago, Ill.- Phoenix Stem Military Academy) will wrestle at 160 pounds. First-years
Kennedy Murray (Evanston, Ill.- Evanston) and
Jillian Giller (Wilmette, Ill. - New Trier) make up the 145 and 138-pound classes, respectively. Freshmen
Alila Beck (Bloomington, Ill. - Bloomington),
Beyonce Espinosa (Homestead, Fla.- Homeschool),
Kimani Glasper (Chicago, Ill. - Westinghouse),
Evelynn Garcia (Houston, Texas. - Cypress Springs),
Simone Dyer (Chicago, Ill.- Whitney Young),
Mia Thomas (Chicago, Ill.- Phoenix Stem Military Academy), and
Leslie Guzman (Fort Worth, Texas.- South Hills) round out the rest of IWU's projected lineup.
