Cross Country Heads to Dan Hutson Invite

Crabtree seeks fourth straight win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams prepare to travel to Waverly, Iowa Saturday, Oct. 4th to compete in the Dan Hutson Invite hosted by Wartburg College. The race will be held at Max Cross Country Course, the site of the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship later this season. The men's race is set to begin at 10 a.m., with the women's race to follow at 10:45 a.m. 

Senior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) picked up her third win in as many events in Illinois Wesleyan's most recent meet. Crabtree ran away with the Spartanburg Pre-National Meet title Saturday, Sept. 20 with a time of 21:47.6. Through three events, Crabtree has beaten 193 competitors to the finish line, falling to none. 

The Green and White women's team stayed steady as the top College Conference of the Illinois and Wisconsin team in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings announced Tuesday, Sept. 30. Illinois Wesleyan moved to seventh place, one spot ahead of eighth-ranked Wheaton in the Midwest region.

Sophomore Jack Thomas (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) led the men's squad at the Spartanburg Pre-National meet, clocking a 27:03.5 in the 8k race. Senior Zack Daniel (Lake Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) was close behind, posting a time of 27:32.5.

The Titans will be one of 14 teams competing in the events, including: Buena Vista, Central, Cornell, Drake, Earlham, Elmhurst, Grinnell, Gustavus Adolphus, Knox, Luther, Nebraska Wesleyan, Northern Iowa, Simpson, and Wartburg.
