Griffin's Goal Enough to Give Illinois Wesleyan Soccer Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Junior Tim Griffin scored a goal in the 15th minute to give the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team a 1-0 nonconference win over Simpson College on Sunday, Oct. 2 at IWU's Neis Field.

Griffin scored at 14:21 on an assist from Danny Kenny in the match's only scoring as the Titans improved to 5-4-0.

The Titans outshot Simpson, 19-3, and had five shots on goal compared to one for the Storm, who is 5-6-1 after the loss. IWU junior keeper Tim Hegwood (shown at right) made one save.

Illinois Wesleyan travels to Terre Haute, Ind., for a 7:30 p.m. (Eastern time) match at Rose-Hulman Institute on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The Engineers are 6-5-0.
