NCAA® Women's Basketball Finals at Illinois Wesleyan

The Shirk Center at Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Ill., will serve as the site for the 2010 NCAA® Division III Women's Basketball Championships March 19-20.

Washington University in St. Louis (27-2) will face unbeaten Amherst College (31-0) in the first semifinal game at 5 p.m. on Friday while Hope College (31-1) takes on the University of Rochester (23-6) in the 7 p.m. contest.

The two semifinals will be video webcast by the NCAA with audio provided by D3hoops.com. Both broadcasts will be free to all viewers.
The NCAA Division III National Championship Game at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, will be televised live by CBS College Sports Network (channel 531 In Bloomington-Normal for Comcast subscribers; check local or satellite listings for channel availability).

The four teams will arrive in Bloomington-Normal on Wednesday, March 17, and will attend and be honored at the Bloomington Prairie Thunder hockey game vs. Muskegon that evening at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

All squads will have closed practices on Thursday and the players willl be involved in reading at local grade schools during the day. The schools are Epiphany Grade School, Prairieland Elementary, Washington School and Grove Elementary.

There is a championships banquet Thursday evening at The Chateau and the teams will also have shootarounds on Friday prior to the evening session.

WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY "BEARS" (27-2)
Washington University, winners of four straight national championships from 1998-2001, will appear in its ninth Final Four, and will play Amherst in the national semifinals for the second year in a row. The Bears won at home over defending champion George Fox 59-52, on March 13. Claire Schaeperkoetter scored 16 points off the bench for the Bears in the victory.

AMHERST COLLEGE "LORD JEFFS" (31-0)
The Amherst Lord Jeffs, in the final round for the second time, remained undefeated with an 80-65 win over Babson in the sectional final and they will attempt to become the third straight unbeaten national champion, following George Fox (2009) and Howard Payne (2008). Five players scored double digits for the Lord Jeffs, led by Atanga McCormick with 15 points and Marcia Voigt with 13..

HOPE COLLEGE "FLYING DUTCH" (31-1)
Hope returns for its second straight weekend at the Shirk Center, appearing in its third Final Four after winning championships in 1990 and 2006. The Flying Dutch beat Wis.-Stevens Point, 71-64, in Bloomington as Carrie Snikkers was 9-for-13 from the floor en route to 21 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.

U. OF ROCHESTER "YELLOWJACKETS" (23-6)
Hope will tangle with unranked Rochester, who returns to the national semifinals for the third time ever and the first time since 2004. The Yellowjackets upset Kean, 68-65, in the sectional final after ending Christopher Newport's undefeated season in the sectional semifinals. Melissa Alwardt's jumper with 7:39 remaining broke the 13th and final tie of the game by giving Rochester a 58-56 lead.
