2018 CoSIDA Division III Men's At-Large Academic All-America® Team
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan University junior lacrosse player
J.C. Grabarek has been elected to the third team of the Division III Men's At-Large Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Grabarek (Bartlett, Ill. / Bartlett HS) has a 3.95 grade-point average as a business (finance) major and is a member of the IWU Investment Club.
He finished No. 2 in NCAA Division III national statistics with 12.05 ground balls per game and No. 3 with a .719 faceoff percentage, winning 333 of 463. He also led the Titans with 229 ground balls while scoring 11 goals with nine assists.
He was chosen as the defensive player of the year in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin for the second straight year, has been the CCIW player of the week seven times in his career and was chosen to the national team of the week twice this season.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The at-large teams for the Academic All-America® program include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis and water polo for both men and women, as well as beach volleyball, bowling, crew and field hockey for women, and volleyball and wrestling for men.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution.
