WINNECONNE, Wis. -- The Illinois Wesleyan men's team was 19th of 37 and the women's team was 25th of 36 at the Kollege Town Sports Cross Country Invitational, one of the premiere NCAA Division III meets in the country, on Saturday (Oct. 15) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wis.
The IWU men's team had 541 points and was led by juniors
Tanner Kuenneth (76th) and
Nolan Tweedy (77th), both of whom finished with times of 26:30 in the 8,000-meter race. Freshman
Max Crowninshield finished 126th with a time of 27:08.
North Central was the team winner with 24 points and their runner, Zach Plank, was the individual champion in a time of 24:46.
The IWU women's team had 669 points and was led by junior
Alyssa Pridemore with a time of 23:47 finishing 104th. Junior
Monica Mocogni placed 130th in a run of 24:09 and junior
Victoria Drake was 135th in her time of 24:14 across the 6,000 meters.
Washington U.-St. Louis was the team winner with 94 points and Erin Herrmann of Hope was the individual champion in a time of 21:22.48.
This year's women's division was comprised of 41 teams, including eight that are ranked in the NCAA Division III top 35 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Nine of the 42 men's teams are also ranked in the Division III top 35.
Second-ranked North Central College (Ill.) and fourth-ranked UW-Eau Claire headline the men's field while the women's category will feature fifth-ranked Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) and eighth-ranked Calvin College (Mich.).
The other nationally ranked Division III men's teams at the Kollege Town Sports Invitational are No. 15 Washington University in St. Louis, No. 17 Calvin College, No. 24 Wartburg College (Iowa), No. 26 Augustana College (Ill.), No. 28 Ohio Northern University, No. 31 University of Chicago (Ill.) and No. 35 Willamette University (Ore.).
Completing the ranked Division III women's teams are No. 16 Hope College (Mich.), No. 17 UW-Oshkosh, No. 20 University of Chicago, No. 26 University of St. Thomas (Minn.), No. 30 UW-Eau Claire and No. 35 Willamette University.
