Glueck, Gradishar Set School Marks in NCAA Finals

2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track Championship Results

CANTON, N.Y. -- With school record efforts, freshman Amelia Glueck placed second in the long jump and sophomore Jamie Gradishar got third in the pole vault on day one of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track Championships in Canton, N.Y., on Thursday, May 21.

As a team after day one, IWU has 14 points and is in second place to Massachusetts Institute of Technology with 15 points.

Glueck went 5.87 meters (19 feet-3 1/4 inches) to break the IWU record of 19 feet-2 inches set by Lauren Alpert in 2012. The event champion was Divya Biswal from the host school St. Lawrence with a length of 19 feet- 6 1/4 inches.
Junior Nia Joiner was 10th in the long jump with a distance of 5.56 meters (18 feet-3 inches).

Gradishar hit a height of 3.85 meters (12 feet- 7 1/2 inches) to finish third in the pole vault. Cimran Virdi of MIT was the champion with a mark of 4.15 meters (13 feet-7 1/4 inches). The previous school record was 12 feet- 4 1/2 inches by Meridith Beird in 2012.

Illinois Wesleyan's 4x100 relay team advanced to the finals with the third best qualifying time of 47.78 seconds. The team consists of junior Angela Herrmann, Glueck, senior Kristen Johnson and Joiner. The low time of 46.46 seconds was turned in by Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

After day one  of the heptathlon (four of seven events completed), junior Jill Harmon is in fourth place with 2,939 points and senior Allie Boudreau is in ninth place with 2,846 points. Harmon was second in the 100 hurdles, tied for fourth in the high jump and 13th in both the shot put and 200 while Boudreau was fifth in the 200, 10th in the shot put, 12th in the high jump and 14th in the 100 hurdles.

Senior Jeff Toraason is in 15th place with 3,218 points in the decathlon after day one (five of 10 events complated). Toraason was 12th in the high jump, 13th in both the 400 meter run and the long jump, 16th in the 100 meter dash and 18th in the shot put.

The Titans' 4x400 relay team placed 13th and did not qualify for Saturday's finals. The team of Herrmann, sophomore Liz Oltman, sophomore Emily Diaz and Boudreau had a time of 3:52.19. The lowest qualifying team from Wisconsin-Lacrosse had a mark of 3:47.58.

Competition continues Friday and Saturday.
