Ron Rose has been selected as co-winner of the Division III "Coach of the Year Award" for the state by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, marking the sixth straight year as either a winner or co-winner of the honor.
Rose and the rest of the state coaching honorees and new IBCA Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized on Saturday (May 2) at the IBCA's 42nd annual Hall of Fame Banquet, held at Illinois State University.
Rose shared this year's honor with Augustana head coach Grey Giovanine and Elmhurst head coach John Baines.
The Titans were 20-9 this season, marking the sixth straight season of 20 or more wins. IWU was chosen to play in the NCAA Division III national tournament for the sixth straight year, losing in the tourney's second round to Wisconsin-Stevens Point, the sixth time in 24 NCAA appearances that an IWU team has lost to the eventual national champion.
In nine seasons as head coach at his alma mater, Rose has compiled a 176-82 record (.682) and an 82-44 mark (.651) in the CCIW.
