BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan senior Erin McCarey has been selected as an individual qualifier for the 2015 Division III Women's Cross Country Championships, which will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 21) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wis.

McCarey earned her spot an individual qualifier as she finished in 12th place with a time of 21:35.9 on the 6K course at the Midwest Regional cross country event on Nov. 14 in Rock Island, Ill.

In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals must qualify in their respective NCAA regions.

Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 16 teams. Sixteen additional teams were selected at-large.

Fifty-six individuals, the first seven athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.

PREVIOUS IWU ENTRANTS IN NATIONAL MEET

In 2012, the Illinois Wesleyan women's cross country team finished 24th in the national NCAA Division III championship meet as IWU earned an at-large selection for the first time ever. Beck finished 217th in the national meet with a time of 23:38.0.

Illinois Wesleyan has had three women previously qualify for the national championships as individuals - Carmin Beck in 2013, who finished in 116th place in a field of 280 with a time of 22:44.6; Kerry Devitt in 2009, who finished 74th at the national meet; and Melinda Sprague in 2005, who placed 33rd in the NCAA meet.
