Women 6th, Men 9th in Cross Country

WARRENVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's team finished sixth and the men's team placed ninth against some of the top NCAA Division III programs in the nation Saturday, Sept. 20, in the 15-team Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Ill.

The IWU women had 167 points as the winning teams were No. 6-ranked Oberlin College and No. 19 Washington U. with identical scores of 45. North Central was third with 69 points, followed by No. 4-ranked University of Chicago with 87 points and Wheaton rounded out the top five with 117.

Junior Erin McCarey was the IWU low finisher with a time of 23:39, good for 26th place. Junior Lydia Rudd was in 32nd place with her time of 23:55 and senior Kelsey Buerger was in 33rd with her clocking of 24:00.

Washington U.'s Lucy Cheadle was the individual winner with a time of 21:03, 57 seconds better than the second place finisher.

The Titan men's team had 257 points as the winning team was Central (Iowa) with 37, followed by Washington U. with 59 and the University of Chicago with 72.

Freshman Nolan Tweedy came in with a time of 27:17 to pace the IWU men, finishing in 33rd place. Junior Carl Anderson was 38th with a time of 27:33 and junior Danny Krob was 38th with his time of  27:53.

Andrew Padgett of Washington U. was the individual winner with a time of 24:47.

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan will run next Friday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m. in the Lundeen-Brissman Invitational at the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill.
