IWU Teams Honored for Academics

The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team along with both the men's and women's track teams have been honored by their respective national associations for academic excellence in the 2013-14 school year.

NABC 2013-14 Honors Court Team Awards

The 2013-14 IWU men's team is one of 125 colleges and universities recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) in the second annual  Team Academic Excellence Awards, created by the NABC Committee on Academics. The awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2013-14 season.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Division I and II, must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2013-14 season.
 
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK

USTFCCCA Scholar Athletes -   Men    |    Women    |    Team Honors

The IWU men's team was among 93 teams nationally and the women's squad among 158 nationally to be named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III All-Academic Track & Field teams as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or higher.
The Titan men had a team GPA of 3.16 and the women were at 3.33.

Individually, two IWU men were among the 276 male athletes named USTFCCCA Scholar Athletes of the Year in Division III and seven Titan women were among the 416 females to be named Division III Scholar Athletes of the Year.

The men were Eric Rydell (3.92, Undecided major) and Aaron Smith (3.39, Political Science) while the women were Allie Boudreau (3.67, Business), Maddie Greybar (3.32, Business), Jill Harmon (3.53, Mathmatics), Angela Herrmann (3.51, Elementary Education), Ellen Renk (3.92, Undecided), Lexia Swope (3.38, Psychology), and Maddison Zimmer (3.72, Undecided)
