IWU Athletes Compete in Qualifying Meets

A number of Illinois Wesleyan outdoor trackand field athletes were competing in qualifying meets on May 15 and 16 in an effort to meet standards for the NCAA Division III championships, which are May 22-24 at the George Gauthier Track in Delaware, Ohio, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.

MAY 15 QUALIFIER - Results from NCAA Qualifier at Wis.-LaCrosse, May 15

In the qualifying meet at Wisconsin-LaCrosse on May 15, senior Aaron Smith had a time of 1:52.20 in placing eighth in the 800 meter run.
The 4x400 relay team of freshman Maddison Zimmer, sophomore Angela Herrmann, freshman Liz Oltman and junior Allie Boudreau finished third with a time of 3:53.12.

Sophomore Nia Joiner was second in the long jump at 18 feet-3 1/4 inches and freshman Jamie Gradishar was fourth in the women's pole vault at a height of 11 feet-5 3/4 inches.

In the triple jump, sophomore Jill Harmon was second (38 feet-9 3/4 inches) and sophomore Ellen Renk was fifth (37 feet-6 3/4 inches).
Senior Joey Pacione had a distance of 46 feet-10 3/4 inches and was sixth in the triple jump.

MAY 16 QUALIFIER - Results from NCAA Qualifier at North Central, May 16

Smith and Dan Krob were the lone Titans competing in the Last Chance Meet in Naperville, Ill., where the duo had a strong showing in the men's 800-meter run. Smith won with a time of 1:52.21, as Krob took sixth in 1:54.16.

MAY 16 QUALIFIER - Results from NCAA Qualifier at Augustana, May 16

In the Augustana Twilight Qualifier on May 16, Joiner (12.31 seconds) and Herrmann (12.49 seconds) were first and second in the women's 100 meter dash.
Renk was first in the triple jump with a distance of 37 feet-5 1/4 inches and Joiner was third in the long jump (16 feet-8 inches).
Boudreau was first in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.51 seconds, was second in the long jump (16 feet-11 1/2 inches), and third in the javelin (121 feet-8 inches).
Freshman Emily Diaz was second in the 400 meter dash in 1:00.14 and Gradishar was second in the pole vault at a height ot 10 feet-6 1/4 inches.
Also in the women's javelin throw, junior Maddie Greybar was fifth with a toss of 115 feet-10 inches and sophomore Kienna Schumacher was seventh (114 feet-7 inches).
Jeff Toraason turned in a time of 15.14 seconds to win the 110 meter hurdles and Pacione's distance of 45 feet-8 inches was first in the triple jump.
Freshman Eric Rydell was fourth in the high jump (6 feet-4 inches) and senior Mark Malatt was fourth in the javelin throw (159-6 inches).
