ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's cross country teams both had eighth-place showings at the Lundeen-Brissman Invitational, hosted by Augustana College, at the Saukie Golf Course Friday (Sept. 27) against 35 and 33 teams, respectively.

The IWU men's tallied 239 points for a top-10 showing, while the University of Chicago won the meet title with 45 points. College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe, Augustana, finished second with 101 points and Loras College (110) came in third.

Senior
Ethan Wood was the first Titan to cross the tape in the men's 8K race, clocking a time of 26:12.2 for 31st place.
Ben Becker followed in 34th place with a time of 26:14.0.

Sean Ryan took 43rd place in 26:25, while
Luke Rossi (26:46.3) and
Erik Bergstrom (26:59.7) rounded out the top-five scorers for IWU.

The Titan women'
s squad scored 218 points in the 6K race for eighth place. The University of Chicago also took gold for the women with 48 points, while Aurora University (96) and Augustana (136) finished second and third, respectively.

Carmin Beck was the first IWU to finish the race, earning 21st place in a time of 23:06.4. Junior
Meagan DeSalvo finished in 33rd place, clocking 23:31.4.

Sophomore
Stephanie Modert ran the race in 24:11.2 for 53rd place, while
Maggie DeMaegd (24:19.7) and
Kelsey Buerger (24:25.5) took 61st and 66th places, respectively.

The IWU cross country teams will host the Titan Invitational next, scheduled for Friday (Oct. 4) at Maxwell Park in Normal, Ill. The first race will begin at 4:30 p.m.
