BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Ten Illinois Wesleyan women and one man have earned All-Academic honors for their combined efforts in competition and in the classroom from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the association announced Tuesday.
A total of 367 women from 123 institutions and 232 men from 92 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Outdoor team champion Wartburg is the best-represented school with 16 female student-athletes who earned All-Academic honors, followed by MIT with 12, UW-La Crosse with 11 and both UW-Oshkosh and Illinois Wesleyan with 10 each.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
Both teams were also honored in addition to the individuals. With a 3.37 team grade-point average, the IWU women's team was among a total of 148 institutions earning the distinction of All-Academic Team as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or higher. The IWU men's team was one of the 80 men's squads recognized with their team GPA of 3.33.
Pomona Pitzer was the top women's team in Division III with a cumulative 3.686 mark, followed by George Fox at 3.655 and Washington (Mo.) at 3.579.
Cal Tech was the top team in Division III with a cumulative 3.53 mark, followed by Principia at 3.521 and MIT at 3.52.
