BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University head men's basketball coach
Ron Rose has been selected as co-winner of the Division III "Coach of the Year Award" for the state by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, marking the fourth straight year as either a winner or co-winner of the honor.
Rose and the rest of the state coaching honorees and new IBCA Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized on Saturday (April 27) at the IBCA's 41st annual Hall of Fame Banquet, held at Illinois State University.
Rose shares this year's honor with North Central head coach Todd Raridon.
Rose was named regional co-"Coach of the Year" by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and "Coach of the Year" in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as the Titans finished with a 23-6 overall record and won the CCIW regular season with a 13-1 record. IWU made it to the round of 16 in the NCAA Division III tournament before an 83-73 elimination loss at North Central on March 16.
On the heels of his fourth straight NCAA Division III tournament appearance, Rose will begin his eighth season in 2013-14 with a career record of 129-68 overall (.655) and 60-38 (.612) in CCIW action. His 129 wins is tied for third most in Illinois Wesleyan history with Fred Muhl (129-62 from 1910-21) and trails only
Dennie Bridges (667-319, 1965-2001) and Jack Horenberger (264-212, 1945-65) in school records.
