NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan junior Brian Sorich was named the "Men's Tennis Player of the Week" in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin on Wednesday (April 10).

Sorich (Downers Grove, Ill., Downers Grove South HS) went undefeated at No. 1 singles last week, beating Monmouth's David Johnson (6-2, 6-2) on April 3, Carthage's Jeff Lotz (6-3, 4-6, 10-6) on April 5 and Westminster's Tony Stephenson (4-6, 6-4, 11-9) on April 6.

Sorich and teammate Nick Kenaga also won at No. 1 doubles against Monmouth's regionally-ranked pair of Johnson and David Stewart (9-7).

A pre-engineering major at Illinois Wesleyan, he is the son of Larry Sorich and Patty Janicek.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
