For the second time this season, Illinois Wesleyan junior forward
Andrew Ziemnik has been chosen as the "Player of the Week" for men's basketball in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin on Monday (Feb. 4).
Ziemnik helped keep the Titans undefeated in CCIW play with wins over Augustana and Wheaton last week. He scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a 71-65 victory over the Vikings last Wednesday, and followed with 18 points and nine rebounds in beating the Thunder 79-64 on Saturday.
An accounting major at Illinois Wesleyan, he is the son of Mark and Laurie Ziemnik of Oswego.
A win at home on Wednesday (Feb. 6) against North Park would ensure the Titans at least of share of their first CCIW championship since 2005 and the school's 28th all-time conference men's basketball title.
Illinois Wesleyan is 10-0 in the CCIW for the first time the 1976-77 squad started with 14 CCIW wins (Carroll was in the league then and it was a 16 game schedule). That team ended 15-1 in the CCIW and featured Jack Sikma, Bob Spear, John Lenahan, and Ed Moore.
The 1969-70 team (Tom Gramkow, Stan Broers, Fred Evans) was 16-0 in CCIW play and trailed at the half in nine of those games. The 1964-65 team was 12-0 (players included Jamie Shouba, Ken Lock, Steve Laub, Jim Gresham).

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services eight member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2011-12 academic year, the CCIW honored 1,323 academic all-conference recipients, 16 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 1 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, 89 all-Americans and three national championship teams.
