IWU's Callahan First Team D3baseball.com All-American

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- Illinois Wesleyan junior infielder Kevin Callahan has been chosen to the first team of the 2012 D3baseball.com NCAA Division III All-American team.

The lefthanded hitter, who was earlier named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin "Player of the Year", was also named 2012 NCAA Division III Central Region "Position Player of the Year" by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He will advance to a national ballot for player and pitcher of the year voting.

Callahan finished the season with a .355 batting average, 42 runs scored, 17 doubles, 11 home runs, 54 runs batted in, a .654 slugging percentage, and a .458 on-base percentage. Callahan, who was a third team American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-American in 2011, becomes the first Titan baseball player to earn first team All-America honors since second baseman Ricky Angel in 2007 (ABCA).

Callahan was also on the first team of the 2012 ABCA/Rawlings Division III Central Region Team while junior catcher A.J. Nathan earned second team honors in addtion to being chosen for the nine-player regional "Gold Glove" team.

Sophomore outfielder/infielder Bobby Czarnowski and senior outfielder Mark McDermott were third team all-region selections.
