IWU Track Coaches Earn Regional Honors

Illinois Wesleyan's Chris Schumacher and Greg Huffaker have been chosen as the Midwest Region head coach and assistant coach of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season by their regional peers in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Friday (May 18).

With his athletes scoring 144 of the teams' 204 points toward a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin title, Schumacher has seven athletes nationally ranked in the top 15, as well as both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. The Titans are currently ranked fourth nationally.

Coaching the distance events, Huffaker had women place 1-2-5-6 in the 10,000 meters at the CCIW Championships to help the Titans to the team victory. He currently has athletes ranked ninth and 19th in the 10k in his sixth year at IWU.

Illinois Wesleyan athletes will participate in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships next week, Thursday-Saturday, May 24-26 in Claremont, Calif.
