RACINE, Wis. -- Illinois Wesleyan won its 11th-straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women's golf championship and senior
Rose Kelly was the individual tourney medalist in play October 4-6 at Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine, Wis.
The Titans won with a three-day score of 1018, followed by Carthage (1098), Augustana (1120), North Central (1125), Wheaton (1143), Millikin (1154) and Elmhurst (1165).
Kelly took medalist honors with a three-day score of 249 (85-80-84) and saw her teammates claim second and third places and put three other golfers finish in the top 10.
Senior
Brittany Levens was second with a total of 253 (83-85-85) and junior
Katie Klosterman (90-81-87) tied for third at 258 with Wheaton's Sarah Moore (87-81-90).
With 264 totals, Titan senior
Megan Geraghty (96-83-85) and Carthage's Taylor Dory and tied for sixth while Illinois Wesleyan senior
Rebecca Candra (94-88-84) was eighth at 266. Illinois Wesleyan sophomore
Michelle Schoch (93-89-89) and Millikin's Gabbi Schuerman tied for tenth with three-day scores of 271.
The top 10 individuals earned all-conference recognition and Illinois Wesleyan coach
Kathy Niepagen won her seventh CCIW "Coach of the Year" award as she has led the Titans to all 11 conference titles.
"It was a great day for our team on the toughest golf course we've played in my 16 years of coaching," Niepagen said. "This team never ceases to amaze me. Winning our 11th straight is sweet and knowing all six earned all-conference honors makes this one special".
With the win, Illinois Wesleyan qualifies for its ninth-straight (and 11th overall) NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships, which will be played May 14-17, 2013 at Baytowne Golf Club in Destin, Fla. IWU will have a chance to sample that course when it plays in the GolfWeek NCAA Fall Preview tournament Oct. 13-16.
