Complete Results, Illinois Wesleyan I-55 Triangular, Jan. 21
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's track teams each finished second to Washington U. and Chicago was third in a triangular meet at the Shirk Center on Saturday (Jan. 21) featuring schools along I-55.
The IWU men had 119 points to finish behind the Bears with 138 and ahead of Chicago at 68 while the Washington U. women eked out a 119-117 win over the Titans while the Maroon women finished with 77 points.
Senior Lauren Alpert was a three-event winner for IWU, claiming the long jump in 17 feet-10 3/4 inches, the triple jump in 36 feet- 1 1/4 inches, and the 200 meter dash in 25.51 seconds.
Junior Tara Clemens got first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:12.91, which is just short of the school indoor record of 2:12.69 set in 2009 by her sister Mackenzie Clemens.
The Titans went 1-2-3 in the 400 meter dash, led by Jessica Christy in 58.21 seconds and followed by Allie Boudreau (58.81) and Jenna Loynachan (1:00.53).
Also in the 200, Caitlin Eskew got second (26.87) and Kristen Johnson was third (27.55). Eskew also placed second in the 55 in 7.58 seconds.
In the 5000 meter run, Rachael Williams was first in 18:17.36 and Elise Anderson was second with a time of 18:23.84 while Taylor Cordes was the winner of the 55 meter hurdles in 9.11 seconds.
Senior Gaby Johnson was second in the high jump at 5 feet-3 1/4 inches, despite tying for the top height with Jasmine Williams of Washington U.
Kayla Worley got third in the 55 hurdles with a reading of 9.18 seconds.
Both the women's and men's 4x400 meter relay teams won, the women with a time of 4:03.63 and the men with a clocking of 3:27.87.
Sophomore
Joey Pacione was a double winner for the men, beating the field in the long jump in 20 feet-7 1/4 inches and in the triple jump in 43 feet-1 1/2 inches.
Ryan Winter got second in the triple jump (40 feet-4 1/4 inches).
Freshman Johnathan McBride won the 200 meter dash in 22.76 seconds and got second in the 55 meter dash in 6.72 seconds while freshman
Jordan Collins was third in the 55 (6.74).
Along with Pacione and McBride, other individual winners for Illinois Wesleyan were senior
Tyler Saunders got first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:01.26 and senior
Steven Kirk in the weight throw in a toss of 54 feet-8 3/4 inches.
Sophomore
Bobby Castillo turned in a school-record time of 15:09.50 in finishing second to Andrew Catanese of Washington U. (15:08.68) in the 5000 meter run. The old IWU record was 15:09.77, set in 2003 by Tim Hachmeister.
Other Titan second place finishers were sophomore
Zach Morrison got second in the 400 with his time of 51.50 seconds, senior
Max Lustick in the 3000 (8:41.27),
Mick Horsch in the weight throw (50 feet-4 inches) and Daniel LaRocca in the pole vault (13 feet-5 1/4 inches).
