Dual Meet Scoring
WINFIELD, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's cross country team finished fourth at the four-team Cardinal Classic, held Friday, Sept. 30 at the Saint James Farm Forest Preserve in Winfield, Ill.
North Central, ranked fourth in the Midwest Region, dominated its own invitational by scoring 17 points by placing five runners in the top six and seven among the top 10.
College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Wheaton College was second with 46 points followed by Concordia University Wisconsin (85 points) and Illinois Wesleyan University (103 points).
The Titans were led by sophomore
Alexis Sampson, who toured the 6,000-meter course in 24:29.59 and finished in 17th place. Freshman
Kelsey Buerger placed 18th in the meet in a run of 24:32.60 and junior
Emily Shire finished 20th with her time of 24:48.32.
North Central's Alicia Zimmerman claimed top individual honors, finishing in 22 minutes, 12.39 seconds to nip teammate Krista Cota by nine-hundredths of a second.
The Titans will host their own cross country meet next Friday, Oct. 7, at Normal's Maxwell Park at 4:45 p.m.
