Gordin Classic NCAA D3 Preview - Final Results

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's golf team rebounded to finish second in the 18-team Gordin Classic NCAA D3 Preview, held at the Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., Sept. 25-27.

The Titans, who were in second after day one and sixth after day two, had a final round score of 298 and finished at 903 (295-310-298), 14 strokes behind the champion Methodist University, who finished with an 889 score (292-304-293).

The annual Gordin event features the NCAA Division III's top 18 teams based on their previous season's performance.This year's event is being held on the same courses that will host the 2012 NCAA Championships

Illinois Wesleyan junior Stefan Johnson shot a final day 73 and finished tied for seventh at 222 (72-77-73) and senior Shane Smith shot 74 to get him a tie for 12th at 224 (77-73-74).

Guilford's Noah Ratner was the individual medalist with a three-under par total of 213 after rounds of 72-70-71.

IWU freshman Teddy Kon (74-78-78) and freshman Kenny Wienckowski (72-83-75) tied for 27th with scores of 230 and senior Dex Reese tied for 48th with a score of 235 (77-82-76).

The tournament featured three rounds at El Campeon and Las Colinas Golf Course.
