The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf teams played in a pair of tournaments this weekend – medalist Katie Klosterman helped the “A” team placed third (of eight) at the DePauw Small College Classic and the “B” team was 10th (of 12) at the Millikin Fall Classic.

DePauw Small College Classic

Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Katie Klosterman had a one-over par 38 for her nine holes and was the tournament individual medalist as, due to rain, the DePauw Small College Classic was shortened to 27 holes at the Deer Creek Golf Course in Clayton, Ind.

The Titans had the low score for Sunday with 163 and finished with a 493 total, behind only Centre (482) and DePauw (486).

"The conditions were challenging as the course had 1.5 inches of rain dumped on it last night and the rain and wind started when we did at 8 a.m.," said IWU head coach Kathy Niepagen. "Several greens had to be squeegeed for play before and during the round. Katie Klosterman at 1 over par 38 today and Megan Geraghty with a 41 were awesome. Rose Kelly made a huge comeback with two birdies on the front to shoot 40."

Millikin Fall Classic - Final Results

The “B” team finished with a score of 716 (361-355) as the champion in the 12-team event was Washington U., who came in with 589 (291-298) at the Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur, Ill.
The Titans' low finisher was freshman Michelle Schoch, tied for 19th with a 169 total (83-86), while freshman Ali Stevenson tied for 36th with a two-day 179 score (89-90).
The individual champion was Olivia Lugar from Washington U., who finished with 145 (72-73) on the par 72, 5865-yard course.


DePauw Small College Classic - Day One Results
The “A” team has a score of 330 and trails first day leader Centre College, who came in with a 316 team score at the Deer Creek Golf Course in Clayton, Ind.
The Titans' low finisher was sophomore Katie Klosterman, who is tied for second place with a five-over 77, while junior Brittany Levens is tied for ninth with a first day 81.
"Deer Creek Golf Course is a really tight and narrow course with small postage stamp sized greens," said IWU head coach Kathy Niepagen. "Never seeing it before made it difficult with club selection. There are several placement holes where you have to make sure to hit the fairway in order to give yourself a chance at par or birdie. A lot of holes on the front side run parallel with uphill and downhill lies. We hope it stays dry enough to have another try at it tomorrow."
The first day leader is Centre's Whitney Miller at four-over par 76 on the 5803-yard course.

Millikin Fall Classic - Day One Results
The “B” team has a score of 361 and trails first day leader Washington U., who came in with 291 at the Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur, Ill.
The Titans' low finisher was freshman Michelle Schoch, tied for 14th with an 83, while freshman Ali Stevenson is tied for 35th with a first day 89.
The first day leaders are Olivia Lugar and Andrea Hibbers from Washington U., who both shot even par 72 on the 5835-yard course.
Play concludes for both teams on Sunday, Sept. 25.
