Women 3rd, Men 4th in DePauw Swim, Rose- Hulman Diving

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's team finished third and the men's team finished fourth at the 25th annual DePauw Swimming Invitational and the Rose-Hulman Diving Invitational on Dec. 2-3 in Greencastle, Ind.

In the eight-team event, the IWU women gathered 459.5 points and trailed DePauw with 993 and Wittenberg with 776.5

Senior Angela Lugg took first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.79 snd her time of 18:43.27 was good for sixth in the 1650 freestyle.

Senior Andrea Peterson was third in the 100 backstroke (1:01.08) and junior Katie McHugh was fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:00.83).

The team of Peterson, McHugh, Lugg and sophomore Lizzie Egan got fourth in the 200 medley relay and IWU was fourth in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:47.61. The team consisted of McHugh, Egan, Lugg and freshman Natalie Statham.

In the women's diving competition, freshman Danielle Owerko placed fourth in both the 1-meter (312.85 points) and 3-meter (281.45 points).

With 368 points, the men's team finished the eight-team meet behind DePauw with 1146 points, Wittenberg with 532 and Rose-Hulman Institute with 494.

Senior Mikey Firth was first in the 100 backstroke in 52.16 seconds and sophomore Marcus Duval took a fourth place in the 400 individual medley with 4:23.71.

In the men's diving competition, freshman Nathan Douglas was fourth in both the 1-meter (247.75 points) and 3-meter (159.45 points).

DAY ONE STORY

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's swim team is in third place and the men's team is in fourth after day one in the 25th annual, eight-team DePauw Swimming Invitational in Greencastle, Ind., on Friday (Dec. 2).
The IWU women have amassed 235.5 points and trail host school DePauw with 464 and Wittenberg with 423.5.
The IWU men have 215 points after day one. DePauw is the leader with 606, followed by Wittenberg with 269 and Rose-Hulman with 266.
Senior Mikey Firth was the sole Illinois Wesleyan winner on Friday, taking first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.58.
Sophomore Marcus Duval got fifth place in the 200 individual medley (2:01.33) and also placed fifth in the 200 butterfly (2:01.05) while senior Sam Mitchell earned a fifth place in the 500 free with his time of 5:02.23.

For the women individually, junior Katie McHugh placed second in the 200 butterfly with her time of 2:13.40 and senior Angela Lugg was second in the 100 freestyle in 54.53 seconds.
Senior Andrea Peterson got fourth in the 200 backstroke in 2:11.45.
McHugh, Peterson, Lugg and sophomore Lizzie Egan teamed up to get third place in the 800 freestyle relay in a time of 8:15.75 and the same foursome got third in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:03.71.
Peterson swam with freshman Natalie Statham and sophomores Gracie Nafziger and Dana Marlin for a fourth place in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:43.14.

Competition continues on Saturday (Dec. 3).
