2011 IWU Invitational, Complete Results
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's swim team finished first and the men's team was second of six teams at the IWU Invitational, held on Saturday (Nov. 19) at Fort Natatorium.
The Titan women amassed 181 total points to beat Augustana in second with 123. Millikin finished third with 81, followed by Illinois College with 47, Principia with 25 and Eureka with three.
Junior
Katie McHugh and seniors
Andrea Peterson and
Angela Lugg were double winners for the Titans.
McHugh took first in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.96 and won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.28.
Peterson was the winner of the 100 backstroke in 59.74 seconds and won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.54.
Lugg won the 50 yard freestyle in 25.84 seconds and the 100 yard freestyle in 55.48 seconds.
Peterson, Lugg and McHugh were also winners in relays, teaming with sophomore
Lizzie Egan to win the 200 medley relay with a new pool-record time of 1:51.53 and winning the 200 yard free relay in 1:44.41 with sophomore
Gracie Nafziger.
Egan won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:11.23 and
Brogan Riches was the winner of the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:40.08.
Augustana was the men's team winner with 142 points, just eclipsing IWU with 136. Principia was third with 67, followed by Millikin with 50, Illinois College with 40 and Eureka with 36.
Sophomore Marcus Duval won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.50 and got second in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:05.36) while senior Mikey Firth got first in the 100 yard backstroke in 53.25 seconds and placed second in the 100 yard butterfly in 55.94 seconds.
Firth was also on the first-place 200 yard medley relay team with a time of 1:41.11. He was joined by senior
Tommy Gilbert, sophomore Ross Tollefson and senior Sam Mitchell.
Mitchell got second in both the 200 yard freestyle (1:51.63) and the 100 freestyle (51.11 seconds) while Gilbert got second in the 200 yard individual medley (2:07.69).
Firth, Gilbert and Mitchell joined sophomore David Dickinson for second in the 200 yard free relay (1:32.12).
