TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Both the Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's cross country teams finished third at the Rose-Hulman Gibson Family Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the LaVern Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
In the 12-team women's event, the IWU team had 90 points and trailed only Bellarmine, who finished first with 40 points, and DePauw in second with 85 points.
The Titans had four women place in the top 25 with junior
Elise Anderson coming in eighth with her six-kilometer run of 23:53. Junior
Rachael Williams was 12th with a time of 24:25 and sophomore
Cassie Anderson was 18th in a run of 24:55. With a time of 25:15, junior
Mandy Kompanowski was 25th.
Jennifer McFarland of Wheeling Jesuit finished first with a time of 23:15.
On the men's side in a 14-team event on the eight-kilometer course, Bellarmine had the top six finishers and placed first with 18 points and Manchester was second with 100 points. Illinois Wesleyan men's team had 121 points.
IWU had four men finish in the top 40, led by senior
T.J. Luby in seventh place with a time of 26:50. Senior
Paul Kwak was 16th with a time of 27:23 and freshman Donald DeSalvo placed 25th with a time of 27:36.
Kevin Kapolnek was 31st in a time of 27:53.
Jordan Parayil of Bellarmine turned in a time of 26:14 to finish first for the men.
