IWU Leads CCIW Tournament By 47 Strokes After Day Two

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- With all five players among the top 10, the Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team leads by 47 shots in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championship after the second day of the three-day event at Emeis Golf Course in Davenport, Iowa.

The Titans lead with a team score of 629 (317-312), followed by North Central (339-337-676), Carthage (339-341-680), Augustana (339-346-685), Elmhurst (348-346-694), Millikin (342-359-701), Wheaton (352-367-719) and North Park (424-421-845).

"What a great day of scoring for our team in windy conditions," said IWU head coach Kathy Niepagen. "I told our team a score of 320 would be great.  This team did that and better by shooting our season low of 312."

Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Katie Klosterman had a second day 76 and leads the individual standings with a 149 score (73-76-149), followed by Millikin's Brittany Holmes (70-82-152), Illinois Wesleyan's Rose Kelly (81-79-160), North Central's Mallory Carr (82-80-162) and Illinois Wesleyan's Rebecca Candra (82-80-162).

Carthage's Taylor McAdams is in sixth (81-82-163), followed by Illinois Wesleyan's Brittany Levens (87-77-164), North Central's Mary Kate Rohn (82-84-166), Elmhurst's Ashley Beverage (82-85-167) and Illinois Wesleyan's Megan Geraghty (81-87-168).

Klosterman, :Kelly and Levens were the only three players in the 44-player field to break 80 on Friday.

The championship meet will conclude tomorrow as round three will tee off at 10 a.m. The winner earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship.
