BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team improved to No. 6 in both the D3soccer.com and the national Division III poll done by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The Titans, who were No. 24 in the preseason poll and No. 15 in week one of the NSCAA poll, are off to a 5-0 start this fall. IWU was ranked by the NSCAA consistently in 2009 and rose to No. 3 nationally last Oct. 20.
Messiah (4-0), College of New Jersey (5-0), Hardin-Simmons (2-0), William Smith (5-0) and Otterbein (4-0) are the top five in both polls.
Augustana (No. 10) and Wheaton (No. 25) are other College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin teams represented in the NSCAA poll.
Illinois Wesleyan is atop the week's Central region poll, followed by Augustana, Washington (Mo.), Calvin (Mich.), Wheaton, Chicago, Carthage, Elmhurst, Principia and Adrian (Mich.).
