IWU's Moody Named CCIW Defensive "Player of the Week"

Illinois Wesleyan senior defensive back Aaron Moody was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin defensive football "Player of the Week" on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

Moody (Riverdale, Ill., Marist High School) had two interceptions, including one in the end zone that ended the final drive of the game, during Illinois Wesleyan's 20-16 win over Hope on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Moody, who also had two tackles in the game, picked off his first pass in the fourth quarter with the Titans trailing 10-6. After his 22-yard return, the Titans eventually found the end zone for the go-ahead score.

A business administration major at Illinois Wesleyan, Aaron is the son of Millicent Armstrong.

The victory propelled the Titans into No. 24 position in the weekly D3football.com poll. IWU received 68 points and improved from No. 26 in the preseason poll. CCIW member North Central (1-0) is No. 14 and defending champion Wisconsin-Whitewater (1-0) is No. 1.

Millikin senior running back Dion Wilson and senior kick returner Kody Smith were named CCIW offensive and special teams "Players of the Week", respectively.

Wilson rushed for a school-record 278 yards on 34 carries and five touchdowns during the Big Blue's 42-31 victory over Illinois College on Saturday to open the 2010 season. Wilson broke the Millikin game record for rushing yards of 249 yards, set by Mark Ambrose in 1992.

Smith had two punt returns for 94 yards including one return of 48 yards. Smith also had two kickoff returns for 57 yards including a long of 40 yards.
