Volleyball Loses Exhibition Match at Illinois Central
Miya Thalmann
PEORIA, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team lost an exhibition match to Illinois Central College, 3-1, in Peoria on Sept. 1.

IWU fell in four games by scores of 25-20, 20-25, 23-25, 22-25 to the defending National Junior College Athletic Association Division II national champions.

"We saw a lot of good things tonight," said IWU head coach Kim Nelson-Brown. "Defensively, we moved well and offensively, we had some bright moments. This was a great match for us to work on the things we've been talking about in practice and an opportunity for the team to face someone else besides their own teammates before our opener on Friday."

Sophomore Alex Hill led IWU with 10 kills and three blocks while Gaby Johnson had seven kills and senior Lori Johnson had six. Junior Stacy Hassinger contributed 27 set assists and had seven digs while freshman Miya Thalman led the team with 10 defensive digs.

The Titans travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to play in the Molten Volleyball Pikes Peak Challenge. IWU faces Carleton and Otterbein on Friday and plays Colorado College and LaVerne on Saturday.
