Titan Men's Soccer Blanked at Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. -  The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team lost its season opener, 3-0, at Wisconsin-Whitewater on Wednesday, Sept. 1.

The Titans had five shots against the Warhawks, who are their conference's defending champion and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III championships in 2009.

IWU keeper Frank Gorg faced seven shots on goal and made four saves.

The Warhawks got a goal from Kevin Grimstad on an assist from Trevor Swentik in the game's fifth minute and Ryan Boyd scored unassisted goals at 47:19 and in the 60th minute.

Illinois Wesleyan travels to Atlanta, Ga., for matches against Emory on Saturday and vs. Oglethorpe on Sunday in the Sonny Carter Invitational.
