DECATUR, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's tennis team opened its season with a split of matches on Sunday, August 29, downing Millikin 9-0 and losing to Augustana 5-4.
Sophomore
Alissa Goetz and senior
Cassie Devore were the only Titans to claim two singles wins each on Sunday. Goetz defeated Augustana's Krista Panko, 2-6, 6-1, 6-0, and handled Millikin's Sarah Kidwell, 6-0, 6-0. Devore was a 7-5, 6-2 winner over Augustana's Tricia Sapio and was a 6-0, 6-0 winner against Millikin's Megan Crist.
Devore was also a two-time winner in doubles, teaming with sophomore
Liz Exo for an 8-4 win over Augustana's No. 2 team of Sapio and Samantha Tonn. Devore and Exo won, 8-0, over Millikin's No. 1 doubles team of Crist and Kelsy Whitney.
