Titans Suffer NCAA Regional Loss to St. Thomas
U. of St. Thomas 3, Illinois Wesleyan 2 - Box Score

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of St. Thomas scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Illinois Wesleyan, 3-2, in NCAA Division III Regional play at Indianola, Iowa on Friday, May 14.

IWU (now 31-15) will face the University of Chicago at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 15.
The Maroons were 8-2 winners over Central (Iowa) earlier on Friday. The winner of that game would then lock horns at 6 p.m. against the winner of the game between No. 3-seed Simpson and No. 4-seed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
IWU swept a doubleheader (4-1 and 10-3) against Chicago on May 1 in Bloomington.

On Friday, Illinois Wesleyan, No. 2-seed in the region, was hitless through the first four innings before junior first baseman Kris Leeled off the fifth with a single to right field and was pinch run for by freshman Sam Rubright. Junior leftfielder Jen Monaco reached on a fielder's choice and Rubright went to second. The bases wee loaded after sophomore third baseman Kayla Mahoney had a bunt single. Freshman rightfielder Jaci Forsythe hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Rubright. Senior second baseman Lisa Narotsky singled home Monaco to make the score 2-0.

The No. 6-seeded Tommies, who improved to 39-6 this season, tied the game in the sixth when Erica Wilson walked to lead off and went to third on a single by Sydney Marquardt. Kayla Boward singled on a bunt to score Wilson and the tying run scored on a ground out to short by Rachel Tondryk.

The Tommies' Marta Radcliffe led off the last of the seventh with a single to right center and was pinch run for by Alyssa Dunrud, who advanced to second on a wild pitch, to third on a wild pitch and scored on a wild pitch.

Senior Christy Engel (12-10) took the loss in the circle, allowing three runs in six innings on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Radcliffe improved to 25-3 as she allowed only three IWU hits and struck out 11 batters while walking one.
