BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan senior
Michael Kozak has been named as the recipient of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin “Male Swimmer of the Year” honor as chosen by league swimming coaches on April 14.
The award takes into consideration the entire season, including the NCAA Division III national meet, while previously the awards handed out at the conference meet had been only based on those three days of competition.
Kozak (Aurora, Ill., Waubonsie Valley HS) had a time of 1:50.91 to finish 10th in the 200 butterfly at the 2010 NCAA Division III swimming championships. He also placed 46th in the prelims of the 200 freestyle.
Kozak had two wins to help his Titan men's team finish fourth at the CCIW championships. He won the won the 200 butterfly (1:50.87) and the 100 butterfly (50.41) and swam to a fifth place finish in the 50 freestyle (21.93).
He also assisted on the second place 400 relay (3:27.77), the second place 800 freestyle relay (7:00.38), the third place 200 medley relay (1:34.88) and the third place 400 freestyle relay (3:10.73).
Carthage's Amanda Croix was the 2010 CCIW “Female Swimmer of the Year.”
