Hope Schulte were chosen to the all-region squad and are among 40 finalists for the 2010 State Farm Coaches' NCAA Division III All-America Team.
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), in cooperation with State Farm, announced the 40 finalists on March 9, who are voted upon by WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions.
Schulte and Solari, who have played on teams the past three seasons with a combined record of 84-5 through March 6, are in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team, which will be presented at the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship Banquet on Thursday, March 18, at The Chateau Hotel in Bloomington, Ill.
The 28-1 Titans host 23-6 Wis.-Stevens Point at 7 p.m. Friday, March 12 in the sectional round of the NCAA tournament. Hope (29-1) and Marymount (Va.) (28-1) will play the other sectional semifinal game at 5 p.m.
Solari (Park Ridge, Ill., Maine South HS) was a unanimous first team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin player for the second straight year and was the 2009 CCIW “Player of the Year”. She is averaging a team-leading 13.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game and has amassed eight “double-doubles” this season and 32 in her career. Her 85 steals this year is a single-season school record.
Solari is No. 2 all-time at Illinois Wesleyan with 875 rebounds, trailing all-time leader Elaine Hill by only 26 boards. Hill corralled 901 rebounds from 1986-90.
Solari is No. 2 in career field goal percentage (.600), No. 3 in free throws made (310) and No. 4 in assists (334). Her 1,170 points makes her No. 10 all-time at IWU.
She is also one of 12 women's finalists for the Jostens Trophy, recognizing the outstanding student-athlete in Division III basketball.
Schulte (Hillsboro, Ill. HS) was a first team all-CCIW player this season and has led the team in scoring seven times and scored in double figures 18 times with a high-point game of 22 in second round NCAA contest vs. Simpson on March 6. She currently ranks No. 30 in career points at IWU with 731, is No. 16 with 68 3-point field goals, 17th with 175 career free throws made and 23rd with 150 career assists.
Illinois Wesleyan guard Claire Sheehan was a first team WBCA/State Farm All-American in 2009.
