Deschler Gets CCIW Men's Tennis Honor March 10

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan junior Tom Deschler was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin men's tennis "Player of the Week" Wednesday, March 10, the second straight Titan to earn the honor.

Teammate Brian Piotrowski was the CCIW winner a week ago.

Deschler went 4-0 in both singles and doubles play on Saturday, March 6.
Playing at No. 2 singles, Deschler defeated Monmouth's Chris Utterback (6-4, 6-4) and Quincy's Baxter Grace (6-4, 6-2).
He then teamed with Piotrowski at No. 1 doubles to defeat Monmouth's Tyler Lampe and Chris Utterback (8-6) and Quincy's Alonso & Rodrigo Marroquin (8-4).

Deschler, who attended Champaign Central High School, is a physics (pre-engineering) major at Illinois Wesleyan. He is the son of Tom and Dee Deschler of Champaign, Ill., and his sister (Deanna) also played tennis at IWU.
