Titan Women to Host Franklin in NCAA First Round

Illinois Wesleyan Women's NCAA First/Second Round Game Notes

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team (26-1) hosts Franklin (21-6) at 8 p.m. Friday, March 5, in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament.

In the 6 p.m. game, Simpson (22-5) will tangle with the University of Chicago (19-6) with the winners to square off at 7 p.m. Saturday,, March 6, for the right to advance to the sectional round. All games in the first- and second-rounds will be streamed via this link.

This is be the fourth straight and seventh overall NCAA Dvision III tournament appearance for Illinois Wesleyan, winners of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular season and tournament championships for the third straight year.

The Grizzlies were winners of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with an 80-73 win over Hanover. They have three players scoring in double figures, led by 5-10 sophomore guard Sarah Condra at 15.9 and 5-11 senior center Heather Harper at 15.6. Senior guard Traci Lippold scores 10.1 points per game. The Grizzlies outscore their opponents by an average of 71.2 to 61.7.

Franklin is coached by Kim Eiler (Biola '90), who has a 107-53 record in her sixth season. She has coached Franklin to three HCAC championships (2005, 2006 and 2010) and two previous appearances in the NCAA Division III tournament (2005 and 2006).

Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for senior citizens and students with an ID.
