IWU Women Split, Men Lose in Wheaton Triangular

Complete Results, Feb. 6 Triangular (Wheaton, North Central, IWU)

WHEATON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's swimming and diving team defeated North Central (184-44) and lost to Wheaton (157-104) while the men's team lost to Wheaton, 163-90 at a triangular meet in Wheaton on Feb. 6.

For the men, senior Michael Kozak had a three win day, getting first in the 50 freestyle (22.52 seconds), the 100 freestyle (47.77 seconds) and the 200 freestyle (1:45.05).

Sophomore Tommy Gilbert got first in the 200 individual medley (2:02.40) and second in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.39).

Sophomore Mike Firth earned a second place in the 100 butterfly (55.49) and a third in the 1000 freestyle (10:47.14) while junior Kendall Held got third in the 50 freestyle (22.70).

For the women, junior Lauren Hansen finished first in the 100 freestyle and had two third place finishes - in the 200 freestyle (2:03.66) and in the 100 butterfly (1:03.27).

Sophomore Andrea Peterson was a double winner, claiming first in the 200 backstroke (2:11.29) and in the 200 individual medley (2:17.13) and getting fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:03.81).

Sophomore Angela Lugg got first in the 200 butterfly (2:17.89) and second in the 100 butterfly (1:02.94).

Sophomore Katy McCortney claimed first place in the 1-meter diving with 151.85 points and sophomore Katie Bell got second in the 200 breaststroke with her time of 2:38.98.
