Solari, Schulte Named to all-CCIW First Team

2010 All-CCIW Women's Basketball Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan senior Christina Solari and junior Hope Schulte were chosen to the first team while juniors Nikki Preston and Stacey Arlis were named to the second and third teams, respectively, of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-star squads announced on Feb. 26.

For the third straight year, IWU's Mia Smith was chosen as the CCIW “Coach of the Year”, sharing the honor this season with Carthage's Tim Bernero. The Titans won their third consecutive outright league championship with a 13-1 record and are 24-1 overall heading into the weekend CCIW tournament.

Solari (Park Ridge, Ill., Maine South HS), who was a unanimous first team selection for the second staright year, averaged 11.6 points per league game and finished second in the CCIW in rebounds (8.0), assists (4.93), steals (2.79), offensive rebounds (2.93) and field goal percentage (.582, 57 of 98).

Schulte (Hillsboro, Ill., HS), a second team all-CCIW honoree last year, averaged 11.6 points against CCIW opponents and led the league in steals (2.93 per game).

Preston (Prospect Heights, Ill., Wheeling HS) averaged 11.1 points in the CCIW and was seventh in the conference with 1.79 3-pointers made per game.

For the second straight season, Arlis (Glendale Heights, Ill., Driscoll Catholic HS) led the conference in field goal percentage, shooting .673 from the floor (70 of 104). She was third in the league with 2.64 offensive rebounds per game.

As a team in conference games only, Illinois Wesleyan led the league in scoring (80.2), scoring margin (+24.3), assists (19.57), steals (13.71), offensive rebounds (14.86), turnover margin (+11.14) and assist/turnover ratio (1.09).

Elmhurst's Lyndsie Long was the league's “Most Outstanding Player” as she led the league in scoring (26.1) and 3-pointers made per game (3.07) and was second in free throw accuracy (.878) and 3-point percentage (.434).
Solari, Schulte and Long were joined on the first team by Carthage's Diana Jacklin and Millikin's Elise Wildman.
