IWU's Kozak Earns National "Swimmer of Week" Honors

Illinois Wesleyan senior Michael Kozak was chosen as the Division III male winner of the Counsilman Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week honors. Six swimmers from all NCAA divisions were selected by coaches and media relations personnel for their performances February 15-21.

Kozak (Aurora, Ill., Waubonsie Valley HS) had two wins to help his Titan men's team finish fourth at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships.

He won the won the 200 butterfly (1:50.87, NCAA "A" time), won the 100 butterfly (50.41, NCAA "B" time) and swam to a fifth place finish in the 50 freestyle (21.93).

Kozak also assisted on the second place 400 relay (3:27.77, NCAA "B" time), the second place 800 freestyle relay (7:00.38), the third place 200 medley relay (1:34.88) and the third place 400 freestyle relay (3:10.73).

Division I Women - Gemma Spofforth, Florida
Division I Men - Conor Dwyer, Florida
Division II Women - Jackie Borkowski, West Chester University
Division II Men - Kenny McCormick, West Chester University
Division III Women - Ruth Westby, Emory University
