Zic, Rogers Earn Academic All-District Honors

ESPN Academic All- District Football Teams (College and University Divisions)

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan senior punter Dennis Zic was named to the first team and senior linebacker Dan Rogers to the second team of the ESPN/CoSIDA academic all-district V football squads.

Zic, who was also a first team all-district V choice last season, will will join representatives of seven other districts on the ballot for national Academic All-America® consideration.
He has a 3.92 grade-point average double-majoring in economics and risk management at Illinois Wesleyan. He is an academic all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection and a member of the Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honorary.

This season, Zic has punted 34 times for 1249 yards (36.7 average) with a long of 71 yards that ranks No. 2 all-time at IWU. Zic has put nine kicks inside the opponents' 20 yard line.

Named as the team's “Best Special Teams Player” in 2009, he is currently sixth in career punt average (37.0) and fifth in IWU career punt yards (4483).

A product of Fenton High School, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Zic of Wood Dale, Ill.

Rogers has a 3.66 GPA double-majoring in accounting and Spanish at Illinois Wesleyan and is an academic all-CCIW selection.

Rogers is third on the team with 51 total tackles, including 18 solo. He has one interception and three pass breakups. He was a first team all-CCIW player in 2009 for an NCAA playoff team and conference champion.

A graduate of Maine South High School, Dan is the son of Barb and Steve Rogers of Park Ridge, Ill.

The all-district teams are chosen by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario. To be considered for the ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-America squads, players must be of at least sophomore standing, have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 (of 4.0), and be a starter or first-line reserve.
