Frank Gorg and
Alli Novak were both elected to the first team of the District V All-Academic squads for men's and women's soccer, respectively, and will have their names on the national ballot with representatives from seven other districts for CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-America® consideration.
The all-district teams are chosen by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario. To be considered for the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-America squads, players must be of at least sophomore standing, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 (of 4.0), and be a starter or first-line reserve.
Gorg (Mt. Prospect, Hersey HS) is a mathematics and risk management major with a 3.96 grade-point average. An academic all-conference selection, Gorg is a member of Pi Mu Epsilon national mathematics honorary.
He was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin "Defensive Player of Week" twice this season and once in 2008
In IWU career records, Gorg finished his career fourth in saves (108), fifth with 3.18 saves per game, fifth in save percentage (.720), sixth in goals against average (1.55) and seventh in shutouts (4).
Novak (Naperville, North HS) was a first team all-District V choice last season. She had a 3.59 grade-point average as a business (marketing) major, is a member of Alpha Mu Alpha marketing honorary and an academic all-CCIW selection.
A four-year starter, she has a career record of 49-19-9 and is the school's all-time leader in shutouts. This season, with a record of 16-1-1, she has eight shutouts and a 0.47 goals against average with 55 saves.
Novak was a third team all-region honoree in 2009 and a second team all-conference player in 2008.
