Awards Announced for 2009 Illinois Wesleyan Volleyball

Eryn Finet was the 2009 "Most Improved Player"
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Senior middle hitter Emily Hagen was chosen as the "Most Valuable Player" for the 2009 Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team.

Hagen (Burr Ridge, Ill., Nazareth Academy) led the Titans with a .344 hitting percentage and 2.95 kills per set this season. She also paced the team with 107 blocks, 0.84 per set.

She finished her career at IWU ranked No. 11 in kills (1094) at the school. She was also No. 7 with 341 total blocks and No. 3 with 283 block assists. Hagen is No. 13 with 58 career solo blocks.

In other team honors, freshman Eryn Finet earned the "Most Improved Player" honor and senior Amy VanDerVoorn repeated as the team's "Most Inspirational Player". Sophomore Gaby Johnson was chosen as the winner of the "Titan Strength and Conditioning" award.

Johnson (Knoxville, Iowa, Chariton HS) was a second team all-College Conference averaged 2.61 kills per set with a .263 hitting percentage against league opponents. She was fifth in the CCIW with nine service aces.

The Titans finished 19-16 overall and finished third in the league with a 5-2 record.

Amanda LaRocca amassed 24.5 points in the 2010 NCAA Division III outdoor track championships, which would have put her in 10th place among the 77 competing teams in the meet, which was won by IWU.
